Day 6 Highlights: Close Calls and Outstanding Lifts in Both Featured Categories

The weightlifting event at the 2022 Asian Games on 5th October 2023 was marked by intense competition and nail-biting finishes. The day commenced with the B groups of the M 96-109kg categories, setting the stage for the electrifying A group sessions.

In the M 96kg category, China’s TIAN Tao emerged victorious with a total of 390kg. He was closely followed by RO Kwangryol of DPR Korea, who secured the silver with 386kg. SUMPRADIT Sarat of Thailand showcased his strength and determination, bagging the bronze with a total of 384kg.

The W 76kg category was dominated by DPR Korea. SONG Kukhyang clinched the gold with a total of 267kg, narrowly edging out her compatriot JONG Chunhui, who secured silver with 266kg. KIM Suhyeon of the Republic of Korea added to the day’s excitement by taking home the bronze with a total of 243kg.

The sixth day of weightlifting at the Asian Games was a testament to the athletes’ dedication, hard work, and talent. Their performances have set the stage for even more riveting competitions in the days to come. We extend our heartiest congratulations to all the medalists and eagerly await the upcoming sessions.
