The Asian Weightlifting Federation held its Electoral Congress Today in Doha Qatar. During the Congress, the following officials were elected:

AWF President Mohamed Yousef Al-Mana said: “The guidance and presence of the IWF President Dr. Tamas Ajan was very important for us. He gave prestige for the event and reinforced the unity of Asia.”
The newly elected AWF Executive Board had its first meeting on the same day and will start its work aiming to further develop weightlifting on the Asian continent.
The AWF Executive Board appointed Mrs. Reiko Kato Chinen (JPN) as Chairman of the Technical Committee, Makhmudov Shakhrillo (UZB) as Chairman Coaching and Research Committee and Ms. Seza Tchobanian (LIB) as Chairman of the Medical Committee.
The following appointments were also made: Al Jishi Salman (KSA) Chairman of the Media and Communication Commission, Mrs. Yuriko Koike (JPN) Chairman of the Women Commission, Reza Zadeh Hossein (IRI) Chairman of the Athletes Commission, Haroutun Tchobanian (LIB) Chairman of the Master Commission, Choi Sung-Yong (KOR) Chairman of the Development Commission.
