Manila, Philippines – The Asian Weightlifting Federation has confirmed Manila as the host city for the 2024 Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships. The decision followed an official visit by AWF General Secretary Mohammed Alharbi, from May 8th to 10th, 2024.
During the visit, the AWF General Secretary signed a key agreement with the Philippine Weightlifting Federation, formalizing Manila’s role as the championship venue. The delegation also conducted a thorough inspection of the proposed facilities, including the Sports Complex of the Philippine Sports Committees, ensuring they meet the high standards required for the event.
In a meeting with the President of the Philippine Sports Committees, the President expressed strong support for the upcoming championships and anticipated more international events in the future. General Secretary Alharbi thanked the President and congratulated the Philippines on securing three qualification seats for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The delegation also reviewed the accommodations for the event, ensuring they were clean and comfortable for all participants. The visit concluded on a positive note, with both parties committed to making the championship a memorable and successful event.
The AWF congratulates the Philippine Weightlifting Federation for hosting this event and reaffirms its commitment to supporting and developing weightlifting across Asia.
