The President of the Asian Weightlifting Federation (AWF), Mr. Mohammed Yousef Al Mana, and the President of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), Mr. Mohammed Jalood Al-Shammari, have been awarded the title of Honorary Doctor by the Uzbekistan State University of Physical Education and Sport in recognition of their distinguished contributions to the development of weightlifting and international sport.
The honorary titles were presented during an official visit by the two Presidents to the University in Uzbekistan.
During the visit, discussions focused on the continued development of weightlifting in Uzbekistan, increasing participation in the sport, supporting talented young athletes, and strengthening the preparation of high-performance athletes.
The parties highlighted Uzbekistan’s significant progress in weightlifting in recent years, including the growing number of participants and the strong performances of Uzbek athletes at major international competitions.
Particular attention was also given to strengthening cooperation with the international weightlifting community, promoting the principles of fair competition, and further developing joint efforts in the fight against doping.
The University acknowledged the important contribution of both the Asian Weightlifting Federation and the International Weightlifting Federation to the development of weightlifting in Uzbekistan, as well as their continued cooperation in supporting the successful organization of major international weightlifting competitions in the country.
In recognition of their services to weightlifting and their contribution to the development of international sporting cooperation, Mr. Mohammed Yousef Al Mana and Mr. Mohammed Jalood Al-Shammari were officially conferred the title of Honorary Doctor of the Uzbekistan State University of Physical Education and Sport.
