





Asian Weightlifting Federation President Engages in Strategic Dialogue During Official Visit to Tashkent
In conjunction with the 150th Anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, hosted in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, His Excellency Mohamed Yousef Al Mana, President of the Asian Weightlifting Federation (AWF), conducted a high-level meeting with key sport authorities and administrative leaders in Uzbekistan. The discussions centered on advancing weightlifting development initiatives within the nation over the forthcoming quadrennial period.
On the occasion of this significant international assembly, President Al Mana convened with the Minister of Sport of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr. Adkham Ikromov; the Minister of Construction and Head of the Uzbekistan Weightlifting Federation, Mr. Sherzod Khidoyatov; and the Deputy Minister of Sport and First Vice President of the Uzbekistan Weightlifting Federation, Mr. Makhmudov Shakhrillo. The dialogue underscored mutual commitments to fostering excellence in weightlifting through structured collaboration and policy alignment.
During the constructive deliberations, the parties reviewed comprehensive plans to enhance the institutional and competitive frameworks of weightlifting in Uzbekistan. The discussions included detailed proposals for advancing the sport’s development, such as knowledge-sharing initiatives in sports medicine and sports psychology to optimize athlete performance. Additionally, opportunities for Uzbek athletes to compete in prestigious international tournaments were explored, with an emphasis on elevating the nation’s visibility and success on the global stage.
President Al Mana commended the Uzbek government’s sustained prioritization of sports development, noting the integration of athletic initiatives at both national and governmental levels. He emphasized the critical role of such investments in nurturing elite athletes, promoting grassroots participation, and strengthening Uzbekistan’s standing within international sporting arenas.
