Gor Minasyan’s Triple Record Triumph Elevates Final Day of Weightlifting at Asian Games

The curtain came down on the weightlifting event at the 19th Asian Games on 7th October 2023, but not before athletes delivered performances that will be remembered for years to come.

In the Women’s +87kg category, the Republic of Korea showcased its weightlifting prowess. PARK Hyejeong clinched gold with a total of 294kg, while her compatriot SON Younghee secured silver with 283kg. CHAIDEE Duangaksorn of Thailand added to the day’s excitement by bagging the bronze with a total of 275kg.

The final session of the event was nothing short of spectacular. Gor Minasyan of Bahrain delivered a performance for the ages, clinching gold with a total of 457kg and setting three Asian Games records in the process. DAVOUDI Ali of the Islamic Republic of Iran showcased his skill and determination, securing silver with 426kg, while DJANGABAEV Rustam of Uzbekistan rounded off the podium with a bronze, lifting a total of 423kg.

The 2023 Asian Games weightlifting event was a masterclass in organization, dedication, and athletic prowess. From the meticulous planning of the organizers to the relentless training of the athletes and the strategic insights of the coaches, every aspect came together seamlessly to create a spectacle of the highest order. The performances witnessed over the past eight days have not only set new records but have also elevated the global standard for weightlifting. Asian weightlifters have truly set a new benchmark for the world to aspire to.
