The weightlifting arena at the 2022 Asian Games was buzzing with anticipation on 2nd October 2023. The day commenced with the B groups of the W 59kg and W 64kg categories, setting the stage for the intense competition in the A groups.

In the W 59kg category, DPR Korea’s KIM Ilgyong delivered a spectacular performance, clinching gold with a total of 246kg. Her prowess was further highlighted as she set a new world record in the snatch with a lift of 111kg. LUO Shifang of China demonstrated her skill, securing the silver medal, while KUO Hsing Chun from Chinese Taipei added to the day’s medal tally with a bronze.

The W 64kg category was equally thrilling. RIM Unsim of DPR Korea continued her nation’s impressive run by bagging the gold medal. PEI Xinyi of China showcased her strength and determination, earning the silver medal. The podium was completed by ANDO Elreen Ann from the Philippines, who took home the bronze.

The third day of weightlifting at the Asian Games was a testament to the dedication, hard work, and talent of the athletes. Their performances have set the stage for even more riveting competitions in the days to come. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the medalists and eagerly look forward to the upcoming sessions. Best of luck to all participants!
