3 times Breaking World Records in the First Day!

Welcome to the 2020 Asian Weightlifting Championships at Tashkent, our Asian lifters did great jobs for 3 times of Breaking World Records in the first day, also there was opening ceremony to welcome 26 countries at venue.

In the opening ceremony, it was an honor that Mr. Rustam Shaabdurakhmonov, NOC President of Uzbekistan, presented in the ceremony, also Mr. Makhmudov Shakhrillo, IWF Executive Board Member and AWF Vice President, AWF Executive Board Members and representative of Local Organizing Committee came together. Moreover, Mr.  Mohammed JALOOD, IWF General Secretary and AWF 1st Vice President, delivered an opening speech to welcome all participants to the cultural capital city – Tashkent, and expressed his thanks to the Uzbekistan Government, Local Organizing Committee and Uzbekistan Weightlifting Federation for hardworking on this event during this difficult time of pandemic.

The first event started with Women 49kg, HOU Zhihui (CHN) broke the new World Record with 96kg in Snatch, followed by JIANG Huihua (CHN) 89kg and AISAH Windy Cantika (INA) 87kg. For C&J, MIRABAI Chanu Saikhom (IND) also broke new World Record with 119kg, Chinese lifters, JIANG and HOU, followed by 1kg respectively for Silver and Bronze. In last, HOU Zhihui won the Gold Medal with 213kg in Total, this is also World Record for Totals. Moreover, her teammate, JIANG Huihua, won Silver with 207kg and MIRABAI Chanu Saikhom got 205kg for Bronze. That’s all for today.
