A Pillar of Weightlifting – Executive Board Member of the Asian Weightlifting Federation and Legend of Kyrgyz Weightlifting- Omurzhan Moldodosov has passed
It is with deep sorrow and profound respect that we share the news of the passing of Omurzhan Moldodosov, a remarkable figure whose life and legacy have left an indelible mark on the history of Kyrgyz sports.
A USSR Master of Sports, Honored Coach of the Kyrgyz SSR, and an international-level referee, Moldodosov dedicated his life to the development of weightlifting in Kyrgyzstan. He also served as a respected Executive Board Member of the Asian Weightlifting Federation, contributing to the sport’s growth and governance across the continent.
His unwavering commitment, wisdom, and passion for weightlifting shaped generations of athletes, many of whom went on to become national and international champions.
Beyond titles and accolades, Omurzhan Moldodosov will be remembered for his extraordinary ability to inspire strength—not only in body but in character. He mentored countless young athletes, instilling in them discipline, resilience, and the drive to achieve greatness.
His contributions to Kyrgyz weightlifting were not limited to the training halls. As a pioneer and leader in the field, he played a key role in establishing a strong foundation for the sport’s growth throughout the country.
