2018 IWF World Championships: China took all Gold Medals in Women’s 71kg and Seven Medalists in the Men’s 89kg!

November 7th, 2018 China won all three Gold Medals in the Women’s 71kg bodyweight category. ZHANG Wangli (CHN), 2016 Asian Champion, achieved the World Record with 152kg in the Clean and Jerk, also she set the World Record 267kg in Total. She finished 15kg ahead of AHMED Sara Samir Elsayed Mohamed (EGY), 2016 Olympic Bronze Medalist and 2018 Junior World Champion, who achieved a Junior World Record with her third lift in the Snatch (111kg) and kept up the great performance in the Clean and Jerk (141kg) which is the new Junior World Record. She won Silver Medal with 252kg in Total.

Furthermore, LIKHACHEVA Nadezda (KAZ) won for the third with 242kg in Total, also she won Silver in the Snatch with 112kg. In addition, ROGERS Martha Ann (USA), third on the 2017 World Championships, claimed the Clean and Jerk Bronze Medal with a 133kg lift.

For the Men’s 89kg bodyweight category, it was a tense competition when seven lifters were awarded medals and only 3kg difference between the first and sixth place. Both lifters made it double among the seven winning two medals each: winner of the Snatch and Total OKULOV Artem (RUS) and winner of the Clean and Jerk and second in Total KHADASEVICH Pavel (BLR). OKULOV, 2015 World Champion, won after ranking eight in the Snatch with 166kg. However, in the Clean and Jerk, he was the only one to bare 206kg, with a Total of 372kg, he is the World Champion!

KHADASEVICH was second with 371kg and DAVITADZE Revaz (GEO) had the same result, who got the Bronze Medal, set three Junior World Records. MENDEZ PEREZ Arley (CHI), 2017 World Champion, lifted 369kg in Total, but he claimed the Gold with 169kg in the Snatch.
