2018 IWF World Championships:  Let’s Celebrate for Three New World Records and New World Champions!

Let’s start with Women’s 76kg bodyweight category! Chinese weightlifting team continued their glory when WANG Zhouyu (CHN), 2015 Asian Champion, defeated two times Olympic Champion, RIM Jong Sim (PRK). This is the first World Championships for WANG Zhouyu. In Snatch, RIM lifted 119kg while WANG did 118kg; however, WANG succeed to turn back at 152kg while RIM did 150kg in Clean and Jerk. As a result, WANG won Gold Medals with 270kg and 269kg for RIM, Silver Medals, in Total.

Furthermore, SOLIS ARBOLEDA Leidy Yesserina (COL) earned Bronze Medal in Clean and Jerk with 146kg and DAJOMES BARRERA Neisi Patricia (ECU) claimed Bronze in the Snatch and Total. DAJOMES also set 5 Junior World Records, 142kg in Clean and Jerk and 259kg in Total.

In Men’s 96kg bodyweight category, MORADI Sohrab (IRI), Olympic and World Champion, set three World Records. MORADI broke the Record with 186kg in Snatch, also he set the new Records at 230kg in Clean and Jerk. Moradi ended the event with 416kg in Total and took all three Gold Medals. In addition, TIAN Tao (CHN) got three Silver Medals with 181kg, 226kg, and 407kg in Total.

There are three lifters who won the Bronze Medals. In Snatch, TSIKHANTSOU Yauheni (BLR) lifted 180kg and set four Junior World Records while ELBAKH Fares Ibrahim E.H. (QAT) won Bronze Medal with 217kg in Clean and Jerk. ONICA Nicolae (ROU) also won Bronze Medal with 391kg in Total.
