GANDHINAGAR, INDIA – The Executive Board Meeting of the Asian Weightlifting Federation (AWF) was successfully held on 12 May 2026 within the framework of the 2026 Asian Weightlifting Championships in Gandhinagar, India.
The meeting brought together AWF leadership and Executive Board members to discuss important governance matters, committee activities, and the future development of weightlifting in Asia.
The meeting was attended and led by:
Mr. Mohammed Yousef Al Mana, President of the Asian Weightlifting Federation;
Mr. Mohammed Al Harbi, Secretary General of the AWF;
Mr. Mohammed Hassan Jalood, First Vice President of the AWF and President of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF).
Representing the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), Mr. Sahdev Yadav and Ms. Sabina Yadav also participated in the meeting as LOC leaders.
During the meeting, the Executive Board highly appreciated the professional organization and operational standards delivered by the Indian Weightlifting Federation and the Local Organizing Committee in hosting the championships.
Several important reports and presentations were delivered to the Executive Board, including:
Technical Committee Report;
Medical Committee Report;
Coaching and Research Committee Report;
Financial Report of the Federation.
The Board also reviewed presentations regarding preparations for major upcoming continental events, including:
the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan;
the 2027 Asian Weightlifting Championships in Korea;
and the Asian Indoor Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
One of the key topics discussed during the meeting concerned the proposed amendments to the AWF Constitution for the 2026–2030 period.
