EGAT’s Cup started Today!

Thai Amateur Weightlifting Association (TAWA) has been proud to be the host of EGAT’s Cup, the International Weightlifting Championships 2019 (Qualification Event for Tokyo 2020), being held during 7th – 10th February 2019 

at Chiang Mai province, Thailand. In addition, there are 98 lifters, 41 men and 57 women, from 24 countries around the world who are competing in this event as part of Road to Tokyo 2020.

Before the games started, it has Technical Officials’ Meeting on 6 February, there are 20 Technical Officials from 20 Countries, including Thai TOs, who have been participated in this competition. Madam Boossaba YODBANGTOEY, AWF General Secretary and TAWA President, and Mohammed Hasan Jalood, IWF General Secretary and AWF 1st Vice President, started the meeting together with Mrs. Reiko Chinen, IWF Technical Committee and AWF EB Member, and Dr. Niwat Limsuknirun, AWF Technical Committee and TAWA General Secretary.

In the First day of competition, the first gold belonged to SAIKHOM MIRABAI CHANU (IND) in Men’s 49kg with Total 192kg, this is 9kg more than MIYAKE HIROMI (JPN), the runner up, and LOA DIKA TOUA (PGN), the third. In Men’s 61kg, the winner is TOKAZU YOICHI (JPN) with Total 293kg, and the THADA SOMBOON-UAN (THA) also took the first place with Total 225kg in Men’s 55kg. In Women’s 55kg, the last gold medal was belonged to JIANG HUIHUA (CHN) who has decisive victory, Total 210kg, 24kg over the second, SADOYAMA AYANA (JPN), and the third was MARIYA HANHUR (UKR). Congratulation for all medalists!!!
