Impressive Performances and Record-Breaking Lifts on Day 3 of the 2025 Asian Weightlifting Championships

Jiangshan, China — The third day of the 2025 Asian Weightlifting Championships featured fierce competition in the Men’s 81kg and 89kg categories, delivering standout performances and setting new continental records.

Men’s 81kg: Tight Battle at the Top

In the 81kg division, China’s Luo Chongyang emerged victorious with a total of 362kg (162kg snatch, 200kg clean & jerk). Luo secured the gold by a narrow margin in a tightly contested final, demonstrating exceptional consistency under pressure.

Indonesia’s rising star Rizki Juniansyah followed closely with a total of 358kg, combining a 161kg snatch and a 197kg clean & jerk. South Korea’s Son Hyeonho clinched bronze with a total of 357kg, tying Luo in clean & jerk (200kg) and showcasing remarkable technique throughout the session.

Uzbekistan’s Khayitboy Abdushukurov impressed with a 342kg total, while Gaygysyz Torayev of Turkmenistan finished with 340kg, both showing promise among the next tier of lifters.

Men’s 89kg: Records Fall as Competition Heats Up

The 89kg category was highlighted by a record-breaking performance from Pan Yunhua of China. Despite finishing third overall, Pan set a new Asian Junior and Youth record in the clean & jerk with 209kg, and matched that feat in the total with 372kg, rewriting the record books on home soil.

The gold medal went to Ro Kwang Ryol of North Korea, who posted an impressive total of 380kg (168kg snatch, 212kg clean & jerk), overtaking China’s Li Dayin, who lifted a total of 379kg with a 176kg snatch and a 203kg clean & jerk.

Kazakhstan’s Yegor Sherer claimed fourth with a 345kg total, while Singapore’s Lim Kang Yin rounded out the top five with a commendable 311kg total.

 

Medal Table Update After Day 3

China dominates with 16 golds, while DPR Korea (7 golds) and Thailand (3 golds) hold strong. Surprises include the Philippines surging to 7 silvers and Vietnam’s clutch performance with 5 bronches!
