Jiangshan gears up for 2025 Asian Weightlifting Championships as key elements published

Jiangshan, Zhejiang – The Asian Weightlifting Federation is proud to announce that final
preparations are well underway for the 2025 Asian Weightlifting Championships, to be held in

Jiangshan from May 6 to May 16, 2025.

This prestigious event, one of the highest-level weightlifting competitions in Asia, marks an
important milestone in the Olympic cycle ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Games.

Jiangshan stands ready with top-notch facilities, including the internationally acclaimed Hushan Sports Park, which garnered widespread acclaim during the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games for its state-of-the-art standards and outstanding training camp services.

Reflecting on this success, Asian Weightlifting Federation Secretary General Mohammed Ahmed Al Harbi noted, “Jiangshan’s exceptional venues and dedicated support services have laid a strong foundation for hosting a Championships that will inspire athletes and elevate the sport across the region.”

The event is set to be a collaborative masterpiece, organized by the Asian Weightlifting Federation and supported by the Weightlifting, Wrestling and Judo Administrative Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, the Chinese Weightlifting Association, Sports Bureau of Zhejiang Province , and local governments in Quzhou and Jiangshan.

International Weightlifting Federation President Mohammed Jalood said, “This Championships is the first major continental event in Asia following the Paris Olympic Games. With over 200
athletes from 27 countries and regions ready to challenge records and set new milestones, the
competition promises to be exhilarating.”

In a display of cultural pride and innovative spirit, the Organizing Committee of Jiangshan City
has unveiled its official logo, mascot, and slogan.

The logo creatively fuses a barbell, Jianglang Mountain, and a dynamic lifting figure, symbolizing
“Jiangshan raised to new heights” — an emblem of victory and success. The official mascot,
named “Shanshan,” integrates elements of Jianglang Mountain and local symbols, indicating the
unique natural heritage of the city. Complementing the visual identity is the inspiring theme
slogan “Lifting Your dream, illuminate our Asia”.

With volunteer training, venue renovations, and supporting infrastructure upgrades already in
progress, preparations are advancing at full speed. Every effort is being made to ensure that the Championships delivers a world-class sporting experience and further promote the development of weightlifting in Asia.
