Weightlifting Championships in Korea

Since the early of 2020, most people have been still in the unstable situation which affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, including our beloved sport. Therefore, this was a good sign to see our friends could restart the competition again in this year. Korea Weightlifting Federation organized the 2020 Korea National Spring Weightlifting Championships during 16th – 23rd July 2020 at Seochun, Chungnam, Republic of Korea. This was the first weightlifting competition in Korea. The 2020 Korea National Spring Weightlifting Championships was for the Youth, Junior and Senior Weightlifters, also there were 466 athletes who participated in this event.

Mr. CHOI Sung Yong, AWF Vice President, EAWF President and Korea Weightlifting Federation President, was the president of the competition. The participants had to comply with the strict rules due to the pandemic situation. Firstly, they were checked the fever and must use hand sanitizers when they entered the venue. In the competition hall, everyone must wear masks, only athletes can stay with no masks during their own competition. Furthermore, one athlete and only one coach can stay in the warm up area, also the participant must bring their own beverage. In addition, no drink or snacks can be shared and the audiences were not allowed in the competition venue. This rules are for everyone health, to promote our sports during this current situation.
