Asian candidates secured five leadership and Executive Board positions in the recent Commonwealth Weightlifting Federation elections.
Jerry Wallwork of Samoa was elected President with 21 votes, defeating Tom Liaw of Singapore, who received 13 votes. Paul Coffa was elected General Secretary by acclamation.
In the Vice-Presidential election, Sahdev Yadav of India received the highest number of votes 28 and was elected First Vice President. Tom Liaw was also elected Vice President with 21 votes.
Three additional Asian candidates were elected to the Executive Board:
Hadi Dinie – Brunei
Sanka Ratnayake – Sri Lanka
Ahmad Mohyuddin – Bangladesh
In total, five Asian candidates were elected:
Sahdev Yadav – First Vice President
Tom Liaw – Vice President
Hadi Dinie – Executive Board Member
Sanka Ratnayake – Executive Board Member
Ahmad Mohyuddin – Executive Board Member
These results strengthen Asia’s representation within the Commonwealth Weightlifting Federation.
