An anti-doping seminar entitled “Protect Yourself and Your Sport” was held at the Ministry of Sport of the Republic of Uzbekistan on 8 August 2026.

The seminar was jointly organized by the Ministry of Sport of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Uzbekistan Weightlifting Federation, the International Testing Agency (ITA) and the National Anti-Doping Agency of Uzbekistan (UzNADA).

International anti-doping expert Riley McGown of Australia led the seminar, presenting essential information on anti-doping regulations, the doping-control process, athletes’ rights and responsibilities, the Prohibited List of substances and methods, and the fundamental principles of clean sport.

Athletes, coaches, technical officials and representatives of sports organizations participated in the educational event.

International Weightlifting Federation President Mohammed Hasan Jalood also attended the seminar and addressed the participants. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of anti-doping education and literacy in protecting athletes, ensuring fair competition and safeguarding the integrity of weightlifting.

He highlighted that the strong cooperation between the IWF and the ITA continues to deliver meaningful results, particularly through education and direct engagement with athletes and their support personnel.

The seminar included an interactive question-and-answer session, during which athletes and coaches discussed practical anti-doping matters with the experts. Their active participation demonstrated the importance of open communication and continuous education in promoting clean sport.

At the conclusion of the event, IWF President Mohammed Hasan Jalood thanked the ITA and the participating experts for their valuable contribution. As a gesture of appreciation, he presented commemorative gifts to Riley McGown.

The seminar reaffirmed the shared commitment of international and national sports organizations to protecting clean athletes and strengthening a culture of integrity in weightlifting.
