The IWF Electoral Congress in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, re-elected Mohammed Jalood as President for 2025-2029, with overwhelming support. He emphasized the unity and progress within the sport.

The IWF Electoral Congress in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, re-elected Mohammed Jalood as President for 2025-2029, with overwhelming support. He emphasized the unity and progress within the sport.

José Quiñones was named General Secretary, and Ursula Papandrea became First Vice-President. Mohammed Al-Harbi and Chengliang Liu are the new Vice-Presidents. Twelve other members were also elected to the Executive Board.

At the Ordinary Congress, President Jalood highlighted weightlifting’s improved governance and anti-doping efforts, securing its Olympic future. IOC President Thomas Bach praised the sport’s importance. Several national federations had their suspensions lifted, and Equatorial Guinea gained membership.

The Congress also elected members for the Technical, Coaching & Research, Medical, Development & Education, Gender Equity, and Governance Committees and Commissions for the 2025-2029 term.

Finally, Antonio Urso and José Quiñones were inducted into the Weightlifting Hall of Fame.
